This started as a small experiment to add a ribbon render emitter and grew into a full effect.
I experimented extensively with the ribbon material because I wanted to make it as bright, hot, and effective as possible. I also added air distortion to the overall material. I also made a material for sparks and ash in the shape of stars and another for smoke. Two different decals were made on the floor for unique cracks. The textures were created in Substance Designer, which includes color and normal maps.
